Pen Pal Project

We were very excited to receive letters and pictures from our peers in Poland.

They are learning English and we are learning a little bit of Polish :)

We definitely want to continue this fascinating international cultural exchange.

Show and Tell

The kids are very excited about their Show and Tell time. Everyone has a certain day of the week to bring something special he or she wants to teach us about. We'd like to cover a wide range of educational subjects. In general, we prefer children to bring something other than their favorite toys.

Each week every student will have a day set aside for them to participate in Show and Tell, if they want to. Participation is encouraged but not mandatory. This is our schedule:

Monday – Max

Tuesday - Demitri

Wednesday - Griffin

Thursday – Solis, Shaolin

Friday- Adina, Anthony

What do you like about Shabbat?

 Each Friday morning we celebrate Shabbat.

Children participate in the lighting of the Shabbat candles and blessing over wine (grape juice) and challah.

This morning we were really into painting.

 We experimented with watercolors and stencils.

Story Time with Ms. Dottie

On Tuesdays we have a special guest in our classroom.

It's Ms. Dottie, a librarian at Congregation Albert, who comes to read us stories.

Our Second Day!

We started to make a list of things we want to learn this year.

And here are some of the children's answers:

Jewish holidays, the ocean, the weather, letters (and Hebrew letters!), sign language, songs, flowers and food. Nice!

First day of school!

About Us:

Anthony, Solis, Demitri, Max, Shaolin, Griffin and Adina.

Our first day of school was great! We acomplished a lot. The kids told us about their summer vacation (ask them about the art contest!). We discussed what we want to learn about this year and what we like about school in general. Max said he loves puzzles (he was happy to find plenty of them in our classroom). Shaolin said she enjoys playing with her friends (she is friendly with everyone in the class). Solis told us he likes snacks (and he enjoyed his bagel today). Adina shared her love for painting (and she already made a beautiful painting mixing the three primary colors). Demitri said he likes playing (and we also noticed he enjoys all kinds of blocks). Both Anthony and Griffin admited their favorite part of a day is going outside (so out we went!)

 We all enjoyed spending time in our new classroom :)
